According to a recent National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration report, Mercedes-Benz recently announced that they would be recalling certain 2008-2011 Dodge Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles after studies showed that the second row passenger seats may have seat belts that do not comply with vehicle safety standards.
According to the report, 3,437 of these vehicles were recalled because these seat belts "may not lock as required... [and] the assembly loop may not perform to minimum force requirements." This defect could greatly increase the risk of injuries or deaths in the event of a vehicle crash.
Mercedes will inspect and replace any seat belts that are found faulty, free of charge. For more information regarding this recall, which will begin during May 2011, call Mercedes-Benz at 1-843-695-5000.
