Government Investigating Engine Stalling in Dodge Trucks, SUVs
Associated Press
05/20/2005 -
The federal government is checking out complaints to learn more about engines stalling in Dodge trucks and SUVs.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has received two dozen complaints regarding late model Ram 1500s and Durangos.
The Ram series is one of the company's most popular models.
Both vehicles are equipped with five-point-seven-liter engines.
The government says the preliminary investigation involves about 506-thousand vehicles. But DaimlerChrysler thinks it's a smaller number.
A spokesman says the company will get a better handle on the actual number after reviewing calls from customers, warranty claims and other internal cases.
