Volkswagen Golf Recall
ConsumerAffairs.com

04/22/2005 - Volkswagen is voluntarily recalling 35,000 Golfs from the 1999 and 2000 model years because of a problem with the fuel supply line.

On certain passenger vehicles with gasoline engines and double-layer fuel tanks, tension may exist on the fuel supply line. This may cause the fuel pump supply nipple to develop a crack. If a crack develops, it could result in a leak and leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source, may cause a fire.

Dealers will inspect the fuel supply line for tension, and inspect the fuel pump supply nipple for cracking. If necessary, the fuel line and the fuel pump will be replaced.

The recall is expected to begin on July 15, 2005. Owners should contact Volkswagen at (800) 822-8987.
