NHTSA Probes Ford Truck Seat Belts
ConsumerAffairs.com
02/23/2005 - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation of seat belt failures on 2001 Ford F-Series full-size pickups, Windstar minivans and other vehicles.
The investigation could lead to the recall of about a million Ford trucks, including hundreds of thousands recently recalled because of a fire hazard in their cruise-control mechanism.
NHTSA cited more than 10,000 warranty claims involving buckles that continued to fail after they were repaired under a 2001 recall.
NHTSA is also probing reported stalling problems in F-Series pickups with six-liter engines. The F-Series trucks are the nation's best-selling vehicle line. |
