The long-time trusted Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Corporation recalled some of its 2009 and 2010 touring bikes, including CVO Touring and Trike Products, after investigators discovered problematic fuel leaks resulting from fuel tanks easily distorted by front-end collisions. This distortion of the fuel tank mount, which could lead to leaks and fires, affected 111, 569 motorcycles made between June 6, 2008 and November 19, 2009.
Harley-Davidson voluntarily recalled these models after numerous leaks were reported, and is attempting to solve the problem by installing left and right front braces designed to reduce the possibility of the fuel tank dismounting during a crash. Owners who have models affected by this issue should take their motorcycle to the nearest Harley-Davidson dealership, where they should install the brackets free of charge.
While no major accidents or fires have yet been reported, this leakage could be a major issue if not properly addressed. Customers are welcome to contact Harley-Davidson at 1-414-343-4056 for more information.
