Home Motorcycle Warnings & Recalls Motorcycle Warnings, Recalls, & Lawsuits 2009 Kawasaki Vulcans Recalled

2009 Kawasaki VulcanKawasaki recalled certain model 2009-2010 Vulcan Motorcycles after numerous owners reported stalled engines. The stalling, which can occur while a rider is coasting with the clutch pulled in, is linked to an improper setting of the Engine Control Unit (ECU). This recall will potentially affect 6,187 motorcycles.

The Recall began on November 1, 2010. Registered owners are advised to contact Kawasaki Consumer Services Department at 1-866-802-9381. If your Vulcan model has a defective ECU, Kawasaki dealers should replace it with a functioning unit at no extra cost.

While no major accidents, injuries, or deaths have been reported due to this defect, this stalling is potentially dangerous and anyone who suspects they might have a faulty ECU should have it checked as soon as possible.
