Home Car Recalls & Warnings Car Recalls & Warnings Over 50,000 Kia Spectras Recalled

thumb

Kia recalled 58,322 certain model year 2004-2007 Spectras due to possible corrosion issues. Corrosion occurred in these vehicles near the fuel tank in states where road salt was used heavily. Extended corrosion caused leaks, fires, and, in rare cases, a complete separation of the fuel tank from the vehicle.

Dealers will equip the recalled vehicles with new fuel tank straps, coated with zinc, free of charge.

For more information regarding this recall, which is expected to begin during June 2011, contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542.

This recall followed another recent Kia recall, affecting over 12,000 Sorentos, due to misalignment of the transmission. The misalignment caused the transmission to wear out prematurely and, in extreme cases, caused complete loss of motor power. That recall was expected to begin during May, 2011.
