Hyundai recently announced that they'd be recalling close to 300,000 2007-2009 Elantras due to a higher than intended airbag deployment pressure, which could result in serious injury. According to a recent NHTSA report, Hyundai is recalling vehicles that were manufactured from July 14, 2006 to November 1, 2008. These vehicles have a defective sensor in which a seat stationed in a front position may experience a higher pressured deployment than intended.
Dealers will reprogram the airbag control module for free, once recalled vehicles are brought into dealerships. For more information regarding this recall, which is expected to begin during April 2011, contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151.
